HMLR increased prices from 9/12/2024
HMLR have increased some of their prices from 9/12/2024 and in response we have updated our conveyancing quotation guidance on this website.
If we have provided quotes for current conveyancing transactions which state the previous HMLR prices, the new prices will be payable if the HMLR required HMLR searches were not ordered when the old prices were in force.
The prices have increased by a few pounds only to:
- Office Copy Entries now cost £7 each
- A Bankruptcy Search now costs £6
- An OS1 (Official Search of the Whole with Priority) costs £7
This is the first time in more than ten years that HMLR have increased their fees, but it represents an 133% increase in fees from £3 to £7 for obtaining digital copies of title registers, plans and pre-completion priority searches.
The good news for the time-being is that registration services, such as the registration of charges or land transfers remain the same.
HM Land Registry has advised that the fee uplift ‘reflects the increased costs of running and improving HM Land Registry’s services, as well as plans to increase digitalisation and transformation of data. However, even with this increase, the majority of customers will still be paying less than they were in 1992.’
The HMLR plans to increase digitalisation and facilitate the transformation of data held by the Land Registry and hopes this will assist with reducing the extensive backlog of Land Registry applications and enable a more efficient property registration process in the long term.
