Margarita Rainford BA(Hons)

Following a change in direction from a career in nursing, Margarita graduated from the University of Sunderland with a BA (Hons) in Business Studies (with a specialism in marketing). Following graduation she went on to gain further degree qualifications in professional education and development, and teaching.

Her introduction to working in law was in the field of Defence Medical Negligence, supporting solicitors at a Durham based law firm that managed and assisted NHS Trusts with claims management and litigation. When changes took place in this area of work, Margarita worked as a Higher Education student advisor, involved in education quality and complaints management. To assist with this role she undertook an Association of Paralegals qualification and gained a Higher Education Diploma in professional education and development, followed by a PGCE (HE).

Margarita  completed the Lexcel Consultant training provided by the Law Society (but does not practice as a Lexcel Consultant) and is firmly committed to quality management and client care.

Margarita joined Hannays Solicitors and Advocates in 2006 and provides administrative support to the firm.

Her main role as Practice Administrator is in supporting the Directors to ensure the firm is compliant with mandatory legal requirements, Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) regulation, compliance with the Law Society LEXCEL Quality Mark and Conveyancing Quality Scheme and the Solicitors Accounts Regulations.

She was appointed as the Compliance Officer for Financial Administration (COFA) in 2013 and this position was reaffirmed by the SRA in 2022 when Hannays became a limited company.

Margarita also assists with the practical care aspects for our clients who are cared for under Deputy Orders assisting Kim Rainford with this area of work.

Margarita is supervised by Kim Rainford and Gill Wright who are Directors with this firm.
