Managing Director

Kim is originally from Hull, but for a long time has made the North-East his home.

He qualified as a Solicitor in 1984 after studying at Northumbria University As a newly qualified solicitor he worked for a Washington firm of solicitors before transferring to a larger regional firm where he became a Partner and managed their Durham office.

Kim joined Hannays Solicitors and Advocates in 2004 and is our Managing Director.

Kim’s earlier career was in defence medical negligence where he was commended in the Legal 500. He later turned to private client work and now focuses on domestic conveyancing, wills, trusts and probate, elderly client services, Court of Protection and the management of our firm.

He acts a Deputy, appointed by the Court of Protection for Financial and Property Affairs for several of our clients.

Under Kim’s management our firm has attained LEXCEL accreditation in 2012 and in 2013 we became a member of the Law Society Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) and have successfully renewed these awards annually.

Kim is our firm’s Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP), and he supervises all our private client staff.

Supervision is provided within the framework provided by the SRA Code of Conduct (and other regulatory rules), LEXCEL and CQS to ensure that legal work conducted by our firm meets the regulations set by our regulator, our quality mark requirements and the expectations of our clients.
