Emma Story

Emma joined Hannays Solicitors and Advocates in 2016 as a Graduate Legal Executive.

Emma specialised in family law throughout her time at University obtaining a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) Degree and Higher Diploma in Paralegal Studies from the University of Sunderland. She then went on to successfully pass the Diploma in Legal Practice and a Master of Laws Degree (in Child Protection Law) from Northumbria University. Emma hopes to qualify as a Solicitor in due course.

On graduation Emma worked for South Tyneside and Carlisle Local Authority’s working in their childcare legal teams as a Legal Officer/Paralegal until she joined us.

She now provides advice on all areas of family law including both public and private children law matters, divorce, dissolution of civil partnerships, cohabitation, reaching a financial settlement and domestic abuse cases. Emma understands that the breakdown of family relationships is often an emotional time and aims to support her clients through this difficult time by making the legal process as stress free and easy to understand as possible.

Emma is a member of Resolution – Resolution members follow a code of practice promoting a non-confrontational approach to family problems, whilst also taking on board the specific needs of the client and the best interests of the children.
